himem.sys is not the only DOS TSR that clashes
with Xvesa.

Yes.

Edit /etc/lilo.conf (in delilinux) to include /dev/hda6
(BL3.40) in your root options. Make sure /boot/zimage
exists on /dev/hda6 and lilo points to it.
