svgalib supports about 38 different video chips. If compiled for a specific video chip it should be smaller, but might not take up less RAM.

The relative size difference might be comparable to that between the SVGA and the S3 X servers (3.2MB vs 1.7MB).

Ghostscript could be compiled to support just one printer (some 600 dpi color deskjet which also works for mono ljet) and the two devices needed by svp (ps/pdf viewer based on svgalib). It does not need to support x11.
Or no printer, and just output to pbm/pnm which you print with netpbm.
