Can you go into setup and check in BIOS what the parallel port
address is?

You can check with linux instead -- see below.

You may also be able to ignore bios settings with BL and specify the parport address when you insert the modules.

linux is finding lp1 (which is LPT2) rather than lp0
(LPT1), which might mean it has a non-standard address.

insmod parport_pc tells me (and adds these lines to the end of dmesg, which you can view with dmesg|less):

parport0: PC-style at 0x378 [PCSPP(,...)]
parport_pc: Via 686A parallel port: io=0x378


This is, I think, the standard io (in/out?) address for LPT1/lp0.
My port is onboard on a 'newer' computer.

Greg, what appears on your screen after you insmod parport_pc?
