Looks like you are using a newer pppd. Try putting "noauth" in
/etc/ppp/options,
or wherever else would be appropriate in the eznet files.

If it's an older pppd, find where the "auth" option is set and remove it.

I am indeed using a newer pppd, the one from David, which is required for kernel 2.4.31, which I am using for USB storage support. But it worked fine in BL2.

I will check permissions on eznet.conf, which contains login and password info. Should that be read-write or executable for user?

Someone coming tomorrow is interested in a linux partition and to use internet and wordprocessing. I need a way to print with Abiword in the same X that Opera uses, meaning dialing as user or printing as root.

I can copy my BL2 installation for him, which works with user now.
