The client computer must have the required libraries
in one of its own library directories. This is quite
different from chroot (where the libraries need to be
on the new root filesystem). BTW it should be possible
to chroot to a root filesystem served via NFS.

If I chroot to the other computer, can I use its internet connection?

Why can you run programs but not go online?

When you run programs, they run on your computer
(not on the computer serving NFS). This is different
from telnet (where the programs run on the computer
serving telnet). Same for an Xterminal (where the
programs run on the remote computer).

We have a laptop with Windows and a PCMCIA wireless ethernet card with Windows drivers. Is there some way to connect to the neighbor's broadband service via the Windows laptop and then network with a linux computer and use a linux browser on the internet? I suppose I could pay money for a PCI wireless card.

You said telnet was not safe because someone else
could also telnet to the online computer.

I said running telnetd without authentication was
not safe. ssh/sshd is safe.

Do we have an sshd? Have you tried it with BL?

Please check if the three modules insert for you with your
.p1 kernel for BL3.

I just booted the BL3 p1 kernel and insmod-ed the three
modules without complaint. They worked fine on both my
desktop (Compaq) and my laptop (Toshiba).

I checked again. They don't insert on my PIII's - 600 and 1400MHz.
The big kernel worked. Could someone else with a PIII check? http://keesan.freeshell.org/bl/2.2.26/*.o are the three modules.

3c59x inserted fine. rpc.portmap etc. work.

Cheers,
Steven
