That will not work. There is no /dev/cdrom. If your cdrom
is IDE, then it will be /dev/hdb or /dev/hdc or /dev/hdd

In order to use some sound program (I think it was workbone, to play CDs using keyboard commands) I had to make the cdrom device link, so it does not hurt to make the link as well as remembering to mount /dev/hdc.
