Would a parport CD-ROM drive also need ide-cd.o like internal CD-ROM drives do? (See /root/netsetup).

You can put the lines about inserting the modules in /etc/rc so they will run automatically if you have lots of RAM to spare. The modules might require that you have the parport CD-ROM drive plugged in before you insert them.

BL3.40 does not have bash, it has sh instead (which points to ash, a smaller shell than bash).

You can probably run this particular script without any reference to bash or ash because insmod is not part of the shell.

The curious thing i have noticed is, when insmodding pcd.o,
i get several messages:
insmod: unresolved symbol register_cdrom
insmod: unresolved symbol unregister_cdrom
insmod: unresolved symbol cdrom_fops

Could this mean i have to insmod cdrom.o?

Probably. Perhaps also isofs.o

Cheers,
Steven

Is there a modules.dep file at the BL3.40 site with the kernel modules?
This would list the dependencies of the various modules, instead of having to experiment.
