Is it possible to connect external parallel port CDROM drive to BasicLinux?
The model is MULTIPORT CD-JET SL.

According to another site, your CD-ROM drive has chip KBIC-971A and the
third module for it would be kbic.o, so insmod paride, insmod pcd, insmod
kbic.

Another google/linux search on parallel port CD-ROM /dev/ reveals that you will need to make a /dev/pcd0 - parallel CD 0 (and for multiple such drives also make a pcd1 with b 46 1, etc.) b = block device, 46 the major and 0 the minor number

mknod /dev/pcd0 b 46 0

(Someone please correct me if this is wrong. The dry sunny weather must have pried everyone else in the US away from their computers today).
