The patches are the main problem. You don't need all of them.

First, do you have rpmoffset and cpio installed? You absolutely
need them to unpack any rpm. You might also try rpm2cpio.

Would you accept an email attachment to your keesan at sdf (I'm
not going to spell it, due to spam concerns) account?

There's an sc for some version of BL. I forget which.

Well, I have enjoyed all of them except for matanza (sp?), which
I haven't tried because I already have several space shooting
games, kobo and bombem.

It's xset. It's in the xbin package IIRC.

Source code is getting very bloated.

Caveat: When looking for xrunner, look for xscavenger instead.
The BL bombem and castlemaze games are library-independent. IIRC
snake is, too. I think the minesweeper from BL1 needs vgalib.
