Hi all,

just some tries about small web browser ( working on a 8-16mb ram machine )
they are all fast i tried also cheetah who seems interesting but it crashed
for me with a segfault after downloading the page.

the MiniX-1.1.tgz package also contain a browser ( chimera ) but it's not a
very nice one

( sorry for this big message but i think it's interesting )

they needs this libs :

gzilla exist in binary package ( choose static )
ldd gzilla
libjpeg.so.62 => /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62 (0x4001a000)
libgtk-1.2.so.0 => /usr/lib/libgtk-1.2.so.0 (0x4003a000)
libgdk-1.2.so.0 => /usr/lib/libgdk-1.2.so.0 (0x4014f000)

but the nicest who do frames, javascript, pictures, download in ftp/http etc
... is links 2.1 who work in console mode and X and requiered less library
than the others

links 2.1 on binary is on my web site.

There are two relatively simple solutions: one DOS-DOS
and the other BL-BL. If you have MSDOS on both computers,
you can use interlnk/intersvr to transfer files. One runs
intersvr and the other puts device=c:\dos\interlnk in its
config.sys. This method is pretty fool-proof and works
automatically with either serial or parallel.

Slightly more complicated is the BL-BL solution. Using the
template in netsetup, establish a PLIP (for parallel cable)
or SLIP (for serial cable) network between the computers.
Do a ping to be sure it's working. Then execute 'receive'
on one computer and 'send' on the other

As for a DOS-BL transfer. The only way I can think of is
to used a DOS packetdriver to set up a TCP/IP network and
then run a DOS server (HTTP, NFS, FTP) that one of the BL
clients can access.

The old files will not be overwritten (the names will be different).
However, some of the symlinks will need to be switched from pointing
to the old library to the new.

Yes.

If you unzip it from the top directory, that will install it.
To avoid this, unzip it somewhere safe (like /tmp).

tar -zxvf filename.tgz

Both.

> and if the latter, do we need all of them?

Perhaps. By trial and error, I was able to eliminate some
files from the BL2 version of glibc 2.1 (I hope this isn't
what is causing my Opera problem :-). I have not done that
with glibc 2.3 and I have no idea what is needed and what
isn't.

Cheers,
