Hi Bryant!

Yes, the text says the book of the Law was found. However, this does not in
and of itself sink the Documentary Hypothesis.

With regards to the development of Deuteronomy and the scholarship pertaining
to it, I recommend Thomas Römer's 'The So-Called Deuteronomistic History'.
It's a good summary, as well as a newish theory. Desi Alexander's book,
'Paradise to Promised Land' is a great introduction to the Documentary
Hypothesis (and its various versions).
