But about the glibc "bug", IMO the ISO should do what all SMGL boxes have
to fix this problem: put kernel sources in /mnt/root/usr/src/linux-foo/,
make a few symlinks and maybe "make whatever/config.h"
This is what all boxes that have once cast linux have, why not make the
ISO do it regardless of whether a kernel is being compiled or installed
from cache?

glibc MUST use the headers from the glibc-kernel-headers spells, NOT from the linux spell. See http://bugs.sourcemage.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7560 and its reference: http://www.linuxmafia.com/faq/Kernel/usr-src-linux-symlink.html.

Source Mage is the only distribution i'm aware of that is still using (and which still have users trying to use) headers from the linux spell.

So, not providing /usr/src/linux is in fact a good way to show this kind of bug. If http://bugs.sourcemage.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8125 is related to this glibc supposed bug, then it should be marked as INVALID.
