Exactly.
Fast growing trees harvested for lumber include spruce, pine and fir.
Thisis the famopus "West Coast" or SPF lumber that is so nice to use, It is
always more rot resistant than Southern yellow pine. SPF comes from Canada
mostly, Canfor, Bond, G-P and other brands. SPF can easily be used for
flooring. Japanese homebuilders nearly always use this for floowing and for
that matter all other lumber used in construction.
In Southern US Southern Yellow pine can be used and should be inexpensive
considering distance from sources and consumer.
If you build mostly with masonry you will need very little lumber to build
a house, window and door framing, second floor and roof.
