This is tragic.
I recently read that the term "urban homestead" was used over 40 years
ago (perhaps in mother earth news?)

They used to be more open. They are a nice family. But they have had an
insular
"family only" kind of approach.  It's possible that someone (maybe their
lawyer,
who might be getting his "cut" from it) is influencing them unduly.  And
maybe
some people did "use" them and take advantage of them, feeding that
perception.
 Too bad, in any case. They are doing a good thing overall; they will lose
goodwill with that attitude.  Do they really not see how they might benefit
from
your promotion of their work?   Cory
