Definitely depends where you are. I've been trying to get kudzu established in plantings in sw WI for years & I can barely keep it alive without tending. Even when I was living in Madison it was easily manageable. Makes great paper & it's probably already been mentioned but the "The Book of Kudzu " by William Shurtleff and Akiko Aoyag is a fascinating read.

Have you been out grazing in the jimson weed ? Kudzu's residency in the
succession of climax species is as nearly permanent as the pyramids. In a
post-nuclear holocaust world we would only have species like cockroaches and kudzu
left.
