What role might cover cropping serve in cleaning out chemical laden land ?

Works for accumulating some heavy metals, of course now you have toxic forages to deal with. Also could help to feed soil life, and that's where the real work horses of detox are. I remember in collage learning about the effects of simple time, feed, and micro-organisms as a method of handling low level industrial pollution. Really quite a testament to the power of the planet to clean itself, with a little help from it's friends.
