I see what you mean...my suggestions were in fact geared towards
providing specific design info, because much of same seems to be
scattered and/or hard to find when I really need it. Go with what you
need...I look forward to seeing it.

Three cheers for open source!
If you haven't already, check out Zope (zope.org), also open source.
Blows everything else clean away for web dev/pub platform ('cause it's
true object-oriented). I was about to start re-doing my site with
PHP/MySQL and then I found Zope - I'm still on the steep part of the
learning curve, but well worth it.
