Of the Mulberries I have grown, Morus alba was the only one that thrived. The birds ignored the white fruit. The bugs didn't bother it. Trouble was that the only way to harvest it was to hangs sheets under the tree because the fruit fell off when they ripened(?) and too many were mush after falling. So I dug out the trees and no longer grow Mulberries.
