There is lots of interest in fruit among younger people. If you want proof, attend two of the events the Home Orchard Society puts on each year, The Fall Fruit Show and the Spring Scion Exchange. Two thirds of the attendees are young people, and there are a LOT of them. I could hardly squeeze between them at the scion exchange this spring. Of course this was Milo Gibson's (the founder of NAFEX) home turf, too, so the tradition is strong here.
Still, it shows how important hands-on events are to getting people interested in fruit growing.
