I grind my egg sheels in a food processor too - much dust that I try to avid inhaling. Foreign substances other than food, don't normally do much good in your body!
I put one tablespoon with each tomato plant. I believe I read somewhere that black blossom rot on tomatoes is aided by calcium defficiency. The egg shell also aids the breakdown of my heavy clay soil that is ubiquitous arount the Thornhill Ontario area (Zone 6B - Canada). Good success since I started using it.
