I would recommend a Garden Way type food mill. These clamp on to a table; have a hopper on top that holds several quarts; and have a hand-cranked spiral augur that fits inside a conical stainless steel screen. Skins and seed go in one direction, juice and pulp in another. These are faster, easier to use, and more effective than a Foley mill; I haven't used my Foley since I found one of these at a yard sale. Screens are available with different size mesh, including some for berries and grapes.

I don't know if Garden Way still makes them, but Lehman's carries a very similar model under the name "Our Best Food Mill". There is a picture on their web site, <www.Lehmans.com>. They also carry other fruit presses.

What are your observations?

I am looking towards next year as right now, as I have
heated, mashed currant pulp (a little added water) draining
in a colander, then to be put through an old funnel strainer
(lined with cheesecloth) with mortise, which is a lot of
work when looking at more than 10 quarts of berries. And
boy does currant juice stain when you are going through all
these steps (unhappy spouse).
