I have a similar problem, but it's my neighbor's dog. (In theory, we have a leash law. . .) She doesn't dig holes, but she does walk through plantings and knock things down. I use lots of cheap metal fencing to redirect her energies.
Mostly, this has worked, but recently she's started walking through the raspberries, and I'm afraid she'll knock down the canes. I guess I need more fencing.
Question: My Fall Red raspberries broke dormancy a few weeks ago, when it suddenly got very warm. For some reason, to large, thick canes were much slower to sprout than the others. Both show signs of life - but one is well behind the rest, and the other is just showing a half inch of green. (The rest of the canes have a few leaves out at every bud by now.) I can't see anything obviously wrong with the slow canes. The color is normal, and I haven't noticed any unusual lesions. Are they okay? Is this an early sign of disease? Should I remove them?
Thanks,
Ginda

Hi,
This is off topic, but I have a varmit digging the same hole (over and
over) in my backyard. The culprit is the STUPID dog.
Any suggestions on how to break a dog of digging and re-digging the same
hole over and over?
I thought of putting a mouse trap in the bottom of the hole, but with my
luck it would only result in a vet bill.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tom
