About 1/6 your weight--very reasonable. Many backpackers shoot for about 1/4 their weight.

Keep that sleeping bag dry. I would put a garbage bag in the stuff sack and then stuff the bag in it. I use a lightweight dry bag. Down is useless when wet.

Have fun!

Hey Irv, what can I say....we are sissy survivors:) Okay, I just repacked
and with all your suggestions, I am down to 17 pounds. Does that sound
reasonable? I do think the team will fish or try to kill a squirrel or
rabbit- however for health reasons, I am a vegetarian....I have a very picky
colon...and just got out of hospital tests due to the problem. So, that is
why I am taking some food. Not many berries out this time of year here.
And it is suppose to rain on us as luck would have it. But, I am used to
that. Every time I have been called on a search it has been pouring and
cold.
Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. They have helped a bunch.

That's what survival school means to me but from Lila's pack list
I think one trip goal is more to establish that yes, your 24 hour
pack really does have all you need for a comfortable 24 hours.

Depending on climate, one can be comfortable with less than Lila
has in her pack. In much of New Mexico in summer many people skip
the sleeping bag. When I worked in the tropics I spent many nights
out in the woods and didn't consider anything necessary except
water and boots. Water in case it didn't rain, and boots because
in those particular tropics certain very deadly snakes are active
at night. Usually I also took some food and an umbrella.
