Chris and all, I second everything Chris said. We
have many breeds in our group. All work well and work well together.
I ride a gaited horse. He used to be too fast. He has learned to
walk like a quarter horse when we search. My horse has always been
curious. He likes to smell things. Those qualities made him valuable even
when he was “too fast”. The Sheriff’s dept. with which we
often work also has a number of different breeds in it’s unit. We
and they never discuss breeds, we discuss horse/rider team abilities. Enjoy your discussion but keep in mind
that INDIVDUAL animals, like people, have different personalities. We don’t
prohibit humans from serving based on their ethnic background, the same should apply
to OTHER animals as well. Pam From:

business!! We are in the business of using equines to do Search and Rescue.
Whether a particular breed is or isn't suited to the work should be a valuable
topic of discussion AS LONG AS it's done respectfully. So far it seems to be. |
