Here in WA state, our junior members are covered just like adults.
However we get very few minors in MSAR because of all the expense
and time involved. ESAR is the backbone of SAR activities
throughout the state. Without the youth there would be little
response to any search. They are almost always the ones to find
simply because they are put into high probability areas. This
includes finding deceased subjects. There is wonderful counseling
provided to any one who needs it after such a find. We have had
a few youth involved put usually they are around for a year or
maybe two then it's off to college and or work. The one exception
is the current president of PMSAR who just graduated from UW and
participated throughout her college years.
