I’m really impressed with my Jang
Seeder, too. I’ve even more impressed (and a little jealous) of the newer
models that have a much quicker and easier way to remove the seed hopper, rather
than having to yank it off the driveshaft. Does anyone have any experience using the “double-disc”
opener or any of the other styles of openers rather than the standard one? As I
work to incorporate more cover crops and fewer tillage passes into my
operation, I’m tempted to try something that may handle more residue. The only “take the time to do it”
element from my perspective is the trial and error of choosing the right
rollers and sprockets to achieve the desired stand. Other than the seeder
manual, is anyone aware of resources available to help with this? I’d
love to hear about others’ experiences, and I’ll gladly share mine,
too. Just not this week – already too many things happening – but if
there’s interest, I’ll dig up my notes next week and send them
along. Cheers, Rob Rob Wallbridge Songberry Organic Farm 24 Sixth Line, facebook: "Songberry Organic

[mailto:market-farming-bounces AT lists.ibiblio.org] On Behalf Of Richard Stewart There are several threads regarding push type seeders. I am a
huge proponent of the Jang Clean Seeder. I am not too sure about the
"if one takes the time to do it" comment either since the Jang is a
breeze to swap seeds and rollers. It might get a bit cumbersome if you
are using the larger hopper or the side dresser but we do not use those. We have had some custom wheels made to do high density planting for
micro greens (radishes and lettuce). The one criticism is the same as everyone else's, no gauge on the depth
setter. We have a couple Youtube videos of its handling, though there are some
better ones out there now. Its worth the money. I am on year four now with my original. Cheers! Richard Stewart Carriage House Farm An (513) 967-1106 |
