You don't mention drainage and soil type. Those, IMHO, are by far the
most significant factors. If the area of interest is firm enough to
drive on an hour or two after a rain, you probably don't need any
improvement. If it takes a day or more to dry out, you probably should
work on drainage before you work on surface.

I've sold PYO blackberries for many years off of several patches; I
just choose parking areas that do not cause trouble long after rains.
