Bt kurstaki is the same, whether its marketed as DiPel, Thuricide or another
formulation. I've never seen a difference in brand names. The reason the
problem is worse in the Fall is because Cabbage Looper is really a late
summer/Fall pest. The other two crucifer worms can be there in early summer,
but if you grow your own transplants you may have less of a problem with
diamond-back moth.

An important key to success with Bt is to use it before the larvae reach the
4th instar (they grow through 5 instars, each successively bigger). So if you
already have large worms, the Bt may not be as effective. You can use a
pyrethrum, like pyganic, to knock them down first, then the Bt may be more
effective. But I'd be concerned in you have cabbage looper, they can be
pretty tough.
