Gday there Marc in West Oz here, The way that we grow our cukes
is angling our trellis on a 45 degree angle growing towards the north, but I guess
you guys would have to grow them towards the south up there. This makes
the cukes grow dead straight as they hand down don’t get marked by touching
anything and you can also grow som lettuces in the space under neath and they don’t
get burnt on the really hot summer days. Regards Marc from West Australia From:

[mailto:market-farming-bounces AT lists.ibiblio.org] On Behalf Of breck Marlin, Thanks
for the reply. I used the weave method for the first time on tomatoes this year
(approx 1000’). It is a lot of work, but I really liked the results. So,
I guess I will try it on cucs. Mike
here is my zip code. We may set a record high tomorrow in the 70’s. Breck

On Behalf Of Glen Eco Farm Why
can’t one use stakes and twine (Florida Weave) for cucs, like tomatoes I
think one could. My neighbor did something like that last year with his
but he told me that it was a lot of work and it took a lot of twine. I
think I'm going to try it on a short row this coming year. I predict that
it will go a lot like trying to stake and weave oxheart tomatoes (notorious for
weak, wimpy stems). Again the issue is the cost of stakes, twine, and
time. Marlin
