You can use the scroll button below the photo to move to the next photograph. As you can see, the wheell hoe has three types of implements connecting to a rotating frame with a lock handle.

An interesting design. When the stirrup hoe blade is down there is a good 18" of clearance between the hoe and the wheel. Not too sure if that helps with leverage but does help with avoiding getting objects lodged in between.

I have painted and stripped, but not put back together yet.

Cheers!

Richard,

The second Planet Jr. you are describing was commonly used for onions in my area. It should havfe a U-shaped knife attached to the frame/wheel and immediately behind the wheel in addition to the cultivator tines. It works well very well in sandy soils, but if you have rocks, you have to watch out that rocks don't get bound up between the wheel and the knife which is immediately behind the knife. The way they work best is to push them down the row with the knife slightly below the surface of the soil. The knife should kill most of the weeds in the white thread stage and the cultivator tines at the rear will uproot larger weeds and leave a well aerated bed as you cultivate.
