Someone recently asked a question about labeling pots. (Carl?)

I think I have hit on a way to mark pots fairly easily and quickly. I have a
new printer that uses ink that is water resistant and I am going to print my
labels on address label paper that is ½" x 1¾" for the 6 packs and I'll
might use 1" x 2-5/8" size on the larger containers. On the samll label, I
can put the variety name, a small bit of info and the days to maturity.
"Sungold (Hyb), Cherry, Sweet, 52 days" or "Cherokee Purple 6-12 oz. Dk Rose
80-85 Day". It's enough I'll know for sure what is in the pot/cell pack and
will be able to give more info. I also plan to have hand outs with more
complete descriptions. So far I have only tried this with the tomatoes, but
it should work with just about anything.

If I stick to bottom watering, I think they should last long enough to get
them into the garden or to market. I have some pots that I labeled nearly
two weeks ago and I have gotten several of them soaking wet and the label
shows no sign of fading. The printer I have is one of the new Epson's where
all four colors of ink are water, smudge and light resistant, and I know
that Lexmark/Compaq makes a "waterproof" black ink. Microsoft Word and Word
Perfect both have label making templates in them. I bought 2000 lables for
under $8.00, less than ½¢ per label and I can copy one description and paste
over and over until I have as many labels as I need. What took me the
longest was coming up with the description that would fit on the two lines
that the small lable has, but when I got one that suited me, I pasted it
into a document that I have saved and when I need it again I will have a
description ready to go.
