i use technu soap in combination with Domeboro solution.  i find technu used to be available only at camping stores and health food stores, but is now at conventional pharmacies and certainly can be ordered by the conventional pharmacies.

domeboro is an astringent powder found at conventional pharmacies.  sometimes you have to ask for it because it seems hard to see if you are wandering the aisles.  you mix the domeboro powder with water to make a thin paste and pat it onto the skin as soon as you see signs of the poison ivy.  it works to dry it out.

it is the best stuff i have ever used.  simply wonderful.  does not sting or stain.  i learned about it from a doctor the last time i had a really bad case of poison ivy.  since then i've been able to nip it in the bud.

good luck.
