I'm wondering how tall one is supposed to let basil get before they
start clipping it for sale. I guess I wonder how low one can
practically cut it, also.

I usually let mine grow to about 2 1/2' to 3' tall before I start
selling it. It can also be cut when it is shorter though. It just
won't be on nice long stems. I do both, depending on badly someone
wants it!!
