I haven't done that, but I did dig some and planted into a large barrell
just before frost last year and over-wintered in my unheated greenhouse.
They lived and I continued to take fresh cuttings to deliver with my
greens. That worked until it got down to around 20 F.

Which basil do you grow?

Marie in Missouri

All of the chefs tell us our basil is far superior to what they can buy
in the local super market or from other suppliers.

Hi Marie
I grow Italian Sweet and De Genova for green basil and pesto. Then I
also grow Opal Basil and Lemon Basil. The Italian and De Genova are
great big plants and yield several pounds total of basil. I love them,
they look nice, they hold well when cut and they taste great. I have
seen where someone dug the entire plants, submerged them in a 5 gallon
bucket with water and sold them as whole plants. Then the customer can
go home and plant them. I don't know how well they did or if they even
lived. Anyone else seen this yet?
