Liz - Check with a hiking outfitter shop. (We're spoiled here, being on the Appalachian trail!) It's possible to get a liner sock and a heavier outersock that wick the moisture away from your feet. It's also possible to buy 'beds' for the soles of your boots. Other advice: two pairs of boots, worn on alt. days so that they dry out inside between uses and/or a set of those great Redwing boot warmers!!
I'm curious if other farmers have found boots that fit well and hold up for more than a few months through farm work. I gave up on Timberline this year as they progressively became less dependable. I feel that I need ankle support, protection and have gone with Red Wing this time. I'd really like to find a less expensive boot. Of course, if the Red Wing lasts a full year, as I'm told it will, they will be much cheaper than the Timerlines, which started to last about 3 months.
