Good ideas. I don't think we have a handle on how effective a locally-grown
campaign can be but I think the evidence is that it can be very effective if
the customer gets what they're looking for. And I think what they are
looking for is produce that actually has flavor and a ripe texture. When a
local grower says it's fresh, how fresh is it? Tell'em how old it is and
then tell'em how long it takes for supermarkets to get it from the field to
their department.
