AMEN!
There is nothing wrong with taking advantage of grants and assistance
when it's available. I don't always agree with the logic behind giving money
away, but then most government programs are beyond my ability to understand.
Any farmer on this list that will not take assistance is probably not
relying on the farm for all of their income. Rather they view it as some
sort of idealistic stance against the establishment.
I like most people in this country have my political views, mostly
between now and April. I can't help but wonder how much actual "Farming"
gets done when someone is glued to a computer all day. I wake at 5AM, I'm in
the fields at 5:30 and outside of meals, I don't see a TV, newspaper, or
computer until after 8PM. At that time it's a struggle to stay awake. If it
wasn't for the radio I keep with me, I'd have no idea what was going on in
the world. So tell me all you "Market-Farmers", where do you find the time
to bicker about everything from the war to farmer's aid, to global warming?
Are you actually making your living, (all of it) from farming? Or is this a
hobby and I subscribed to the wrong list?
It has been a LONG and for only the second time in four years a
profitable season. Regards, Ed Clifford
