You missed the point. The ones left behind were no good in the first place.
If they were good, the poking would have revealed this, and they would have
been purchased.

However, I DO see your point about the undressed corn being perceived as
unsalable.

So, this feeling up the corn, you can be sure you'll get good *tasting* corn
this way? Like I said, I'm not concerned with a worm at the tip, or an
unfilled ear. Just yummy-ness, corny & crisp. I'm certainly willing to try
this out. If it works, it would be a win-win thing to do.

I never realized this was such a touchy subject. I do love my local
farmers, really I do. So, to show my good faith, I pledge to just buy an
ear first to find out if they are any good. If it's no good, I spent 50
cents or more to save myself six bucks and a lousy dinner, right?

I guess any farmer who actually brings sweet corn to market is doing us a
favor anyway, right? Guess I'll try to look at it that way, and take my
chances. And be grateful I've got the chance.
