Del-

I've done some more reading and it looks like one of Schmeiser's neighbors
sold him some "brown-bag" round-up ready seeds.

The link above contains many of the stories printed in local newspapers
during the trial.

As to the "wind" blowing pollen over and other theories, this story was
written.

FARMER'S STORY LACKS CREDIBILITY, SAYS SCIENTIST

June 15, 2000

Keith Downey, one of the world's most prominent canola scientists and one of
the men who invented canola, has, according to this story, testified that
Percy Schmeiser's story doesn't make sense and he doesn't believe it is
possible that cross-pollination by wind and bees, or seed blowing off
trucks, transformed Schmeiser's 900 acres of canola in 1998 into commercial
grade Roundup Ready canola, adding in a report given to the federal court
judge presiding over Monsanto's lawsuit against Schmeiser that, "The points
made by Mr. Schmeiser in the examination for discovery do not reasonably
account for how the quantity of Roundup Ready crop found on his fields
actually got there. Such quantities are only consistent with the placing of
Roundup tolerant canola seed on the land in question at or after seed bed
preparation."

Bottom line unless the Governments of the US, Canada, Mexico and other Ag
producing countries of South America step in and regulate GMO in the next 12
to 24 months GMO will be here to stay. Farmers are planting more GMO crops
every year and there is no signs of them reducing acreage.

Pollen drift and other so-called problems are not going to dampen the usage
of these products.

Unless and until it is made illegal or proven unsafe (i.e. bogus scare on
Star-Link corn. Star Link was consumed by Humans in over 6 countries todate
including the US and not one case of allergic reaction has been reported.)
When and if it is proven that GMO has caused some health malady THEN it will
be banned!

Regards,

Kevin
