I've worked with many direct-market sweet corn growers and it doesn't
matter how they sell the corn, they experience the same thing. I don't think
any have solved the problem completely, even some who've been in the
business for over fifty years. The only approach that seems to come close is
to post a sign that informs the consumer they must buy the corn they strip
(Don't undress the corn!). But then they have to enforce it. A disclaimer
could allow the consumer to reject ears with obvious flaws.
