Thanks for everyones responses! Yes Cheri I would like more info.

Since the property is certified organic I wish to keep it this way. I'm trying to find good cover crops for strawberries, and vegetable crops. I've heard of rye being used and something called veg....? I understand that these crops are planted in the fall and are cut or left to freeze before seed heads develop - wouldn't it have to be a specific variety of rye, etc., something that is an annual? When in the fall would planting occur. I would also like to know what type of equipment would be needed to run such an operation.

We are fortunate because we have a one year window to prep the land. I can do whatever would be necessary this year without having to worry about planting vegetable crops etc. until next year. Thanks for the advice, Jacqueline
