Here's one VA farmer who's been on the forefront of no-till since the 80's.    Cedar Meadow Farm.  I met him on the sanet list.  He isn't organic, but his methods are certainly more sustainable than conventional ag. 
 
I agree with Jill somewhat on the increased herbicides, but for small acreage gardening/farming that we all do, no till doesn't need herbicides to be successful on this size scale.  I do disagree with "no till" destroying soil life.  I watched it on farms on the coast.  In spite of a very slight increase of Round Up, earthworms increased dramatically & soil compaction became much less of a problem, especially after 3 years, when the farmers switched to no till.
