Our Pyrenees barks alot.  If anyone drives down the road, she barks and she answers the coyotes.  We don't notice the barking so much or at least it doesn't annoy us.  It might be different in the summertime with the windows open.  Nobody comes to the door without me knowing they're around anymore.  And I like that.  She growls at the cats if they want her food.  Our male Pyr didn't bark much at all.

I've heard that Great Pyrenees bark all night. That's part of their marking their territory and keeping other animals away. We had seriously considered getting one until we heard this (from friends who have one and from some summary on their breed.) Is this everyone's experience? Or do you find this is not true?
