Liz---re groundcloth as mulch---we butt the cloth up against the row on each
side, then use lawn clippings to mulch whatever isn't covered (quite a bit in
rows of broccoli, for example, where it is a staggered double row on 16"
centers). Cutting the cloth does cause problems over time. We even fold
over the ends so a cut end does not meet the lawnmower in the grass paths.
