Rose,
If you are asking if the well will provide enough water for drip irrigation,
it depends on the capacity of your well. If you are asking if the drip
irrigation will pollute the well, it depends on the type of soil on your land
but it is unlikely to leach fertilizer and pesticide into a deep well.
As for straw mulch, you may have a problem with weed seeds. Straw is just
taken from the fields after harvesting the crop. It is not cleaned at all in
my area so I doubt if it can be declared weed free anywhere. You might
consider some of the work done by USDA in using various colored plastic
mulches on different crops. No weeds, less watering and might even enhance
the productivity of the crop.
