Craig - I meant with the way my host is set up, as I got 404's.
Although, I was also concerned about whether or not the urls to
individual blog entries would still have the 'lyceum' directory within
their urls. Can I see one of the blogs you set up?

Dave,
I won't be able to use a subdomain for each blog - so I decided to set
it up like:

http://www.redthreadlove.com/blogs/blog1
http://www.redthreadlove.com/blogs/blog2
etc

I got 404's after I installed when going to control panel page.
Although the portal.php was ok. I put all the files under 'lyceum',
which was in the directory 'blogs'. I thought maybe I had set up the
WEBROOT and MAINDOMAIN wrong - I did them like this:

define('WEBROOT', '/lyceum');
define('MAINDOMAIN', 'www.redthreadlove.com/blogs');

So I reinstalled like:

define('WEBROOT', '/blogs/lyceum');
define('MAINDOMAIN', 'www.redthreadlove.com');

it works but the urls are still like:

http://www.redthreadlove.com/blogs/lyceum/blog1

so, they still have the directory 'lyceum' in them.

I feel totally lost now, and yet it doesn't seem like it should be that
hard to do.
