Too many regulations Mitch.  In NC you can't sale Raw milk period.  You have to have a certified dairy and license to sale milk here.  I'm not sure about the rules governing eggs and chicken, but I know that there are some.  Last time I checked we couldn't even give our milk away as pet food.  That being said, the rules in each state are different.

That's exactly the point, and it seems to me that both of those, and free-range eggs and organic or raw milk are better handled by a relatively small farm/ranch.  I'm seeing more of these kinds of operations in Central Texas, but not enough to meet the demand, especially from restaurants.  What's the deal?  Is it just too much work or investment?

There's a lot of grassland in Texas that is well suited to raising herbivores, but where it would be very difficult to sustainably raise annual vegetables or grain.  Some folks are successfully using Holistic Management principles in these operations, but there must be systemic barriers, because it's not happening enough.

Pesst( secret ), in reference to not being able to sell milk etc...To hell with government regulations! Start to "selltrade" these items through a C.S.A, where the partiscipants are the" owners",and thus can get what ever product they wish, Milk, free range fowl, and others.
We must be" revolutionary" in our approaches to those things which affect our lives. And to simply roll over, and continue to accept this failing governmental body  that keeps us consuming their tainted foods of death is fool hardy. Are we free persons, whom have the right to consume what we wish or what! Take a stand everyone, for the hand writting is already on the wall.............Peace...."Gaiamon
