Thanks for all the feedback, guys! I know about OWC and had already looked on the site for additional RAM... but does anyone know how Apple installs the RAM modules on the new Macs? The question is whether or not the I can specify a single 4 mb module at purchase rather than have to lose 2 mb when I add an additional 4mb of RAM because of the way the RAM comes installed. I was going to buy from the Apple Store at Crabtree (which only offers 6-months interest free), but I'd prefer to get 18-months interest-free at Best Buy. I'm assuming the Apple store will customize the initial ram for me, but BB won't so it would cost me $140 to replace all the RAM if I want to go for the max 8.

Yes, I plan on keeping the computer for quite a while so I'll probably go for the 2.8 upgrade. I want that VRAM.

>Congrats on getting a Mac, btw!  :)

I'm so excited about returning to my first love. My last Mac was a 6400 Power Mac- just before the G's came out. It broke my heart to buy a pc laptop, but it made busness sense at the time because that's where the contract work was. But Leopard offers the best of both worlds so I'd be an idiot not to return to Apple. If it weren't for Steve Jobs, we'd all be typing in Courier in DOS mode so I'm thrilled to continue to support the innovation leader. And I heard that Snow Leopard was only going to cost $30!

(LOL... I can almost hear the geeks on this list murmuring..."what's wrong with DOS mode?")
