Do it now! Its only going to get worse and the collection agency won't stop calling.

UNC Hospital has started sending bills to collection agencies right away, and I recently had to fight off a bill collector and it wasn't pretty. Even though the procedure was covered, Blue Cross/Blue Shield wouldn't pay because UNC copied my address incorrectly, changing "Tharrington" to "Farrington", and none of the bills or notices from the collection agency got to me because they were going to the wrong address. The (@&#*( bill collector would not even consider the idea that UNC Hospital had screwed up, and only backed off after many calls to UNC hospital to clear it up.

Personally, from what you described if this were me I'd get a lawyer at this point.
