I had thought about this concept a few years back, but instead of
microphones, a simple bar-code scanner near the trash can. As you go through
dry food staples, the puter would know just what supplies you might need,
and give you a chance to click "yes" on the bullet list of re-orders, right
when you know you're out. You could add options for adding new or produce
items during the ordering process.

A side business to facilitate this and other deliveries could be called a
butler-box perhaps. A small enclosure outside of your front door to accept
deliveries that has some minimal security.
